Loomr Privacy Policy
Loomr (“we”, “us”) is a longitudinal pattern journal. A journal is the most private kind of writing, so our product is local-first by design. This policy explains what information we handle, how, and what you can do.
1. Our core principle: local-first
Your journal entries live on your device by default (in an on-device database and file system). Unless you explicitly turn on sync, we do not store your entry content, voice transcriptions, or photos on our servers.
2. What we collect
To provide accounts and subscriptions, we collect and process the minimum necessary:
- Account identifier — created when you sign in with Sign in with Apple or email.
- Subscription status — to verify whether you have Loomr Pro (handled by RevenueCat and the App Store).
- Essential call metadata — timestamps, error codes, and quota counts produced when you use AI features. This does not include the content of your entries.
3. How AI handles your content
Loomr’s AI features (Pattern Weave, Reckoning) are powered by a third-party AI model, forwarded through our own gateway. When you trigger a weave or a question:
- We upload only the text snippet needed for that one operation, not your whole journal.
- That snippet is used once and discarded: it is not retained on our servers after processing, and is never used to train any model.
- Every AI-derived insight is required to cite its source in your own words, which you can verify and jump back to.
4. What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information or journal content to anyone.
- We use no third-party advertising SDKs, do no cross-app tracking, and collect no advertising identifier (IDFA).
- We do not use your content to train AI models.
5. Crash & diagnostics
To keep the app stable we use self-hosted GlitchTip to collect anonymous crash and error diagnostics (stack traces, device model, OS version). These diagnostics do not include your journal content.
6. Third-party services
We use the following services to operate Loomr:
- Apple Sign in with Apple / App Store — sign-in and subscription purchases
- Supabase — authentication and (only when you enable sync) derived-data storage
- RevenueCat — subscription status management
- A third-party AI model (via our gateway) — processes only the text needed for the current weave / question, then discards it
- GlitchTip (self-hosted) — anonymous crash diagnostics
7. Data retention & deletion
You can delete your account anytime from Settings → Delete account in the app. Deletion cascades through your entries, threads, Reckoning history, local database, and voice / photo attachments; derived data associated with your account on the server is also removed. You can also export everything to Markdown / JSON and take your original text with you at any time.
8. Children’s privacy
Loomr is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will notify you in the app and update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
